Short Writing Assignment: Research Ethics History (16 points)
Identify a case of abuse or mistreatment of research participants (except the Tuskegee syphilis
study and Henrietta Lacks, which we may read about and discuss in class). This can be something
currently in the news or going back as far as 1900 (your book has examples and anything on the
news is in play).
1) Describe the details of the case (300-500 words).
2) Discuss the ethical violations, linking them to specific principles and regulations (500-750 words).
