1. What is the primary moral conflict in Antigone? Why does this qualify
as the main moral conflict?
2. Is the conflict resolved? If so, how? If not, how does the novel end with
respect to the conflict?
3. Choose ONE of the following two questions:
a. Choose either Aristotelian virtue ethics, Kantian deontology, or
Millian utilitarianism, and evaluate the conflict according to that
perspective. How should the character(s) have acted in order to
resolve the conflict, if they acted according to this view?
b. Analyze the moral conflict from the perspective of Young’s “Five
Faces of Oppression.” Identify the relevant social groups between
which the conflict arises, and discuss TWO relevant faces of
oppression relevant to this conflict.
